According to Tuesday’s WSBT News, the body of a badly decomposed dog was found inside of a crate, in the garage of a home in South Bend, Indiana. The deceased dog, who appears to have been abandoned in the garage, was found by local authorities after someone provided a video to animal control and the police.
On December 7, the disturbing video, which shows trash-littered property on North Adams Street, and the body of the dog inside of a wire cage in a garage, was posted on the Signatures for Hope Facebook page. A petition demanding that the dog’s owners be found and prosecuted has been created and there are over 3700 signatures so far.
Matt Harmon, the shelter manager for the South Bend Animal Care and Control, confirmed that the deceased dog had been in the cage for “months.” Now, officials are hoping to find the person responsible for the cruel act. Anyone who has information about this disturbing case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (574) 288-STOP.
