Pup abandoned in a duffel bag screen shot via 10 News
A small, mixed breed puppy was discovered in some bushes in a duffel bag in San Diego, California, reported Friday’s ABC News 10. A good Samaritan heard whimpering before finding the small Chihuahua mix along Kettner Boulevard.
David Schneider was on a walk when he found the little dog, dubbed “Duffy.” The pup’s snout was the only thing visible from the bag that had been carelessly tossed aside like unwanted trash. Schneider took the pup home for a few days, but when nobody came forward to claim her, he took her to Animal Services – she has since been transferred to the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
Exams revealed that Duffy appears to be in good health. As of Saturday, she is available for adoption for a $145 adoption fee. Whoever dumped the pup could face fines or jail time – it is illegal to abandon an animal.
The humane society can be reached at 760-753-6413.
