The Greatest Ending To Story Of Dog Rejected By former owners At Animal Shelter
The heartbreaking story of a dog rejected by her former owners at an animal shelter has had a happy ending.
Millions watched the moment excited two-year-old Shepherd mix Zuzu spotted her family arrive at the Downey Animal Care Center (DACC) in Los Angeles believing they would be reunited.
However, it turned out that the family were not actually there to pick up Zuzu, but were interested in adopting another dog.
“We would like to report the happy ending… a rescue has agreed to take Zuzu and she will be leaving Downey [on] the first day that she is legally allowed to be adopted,” they wrote on Facebook.
In another post they added: “Zuzu has left the building!!! Goodbye and good luck Zuzu from all your friends at the Downey Shelter … and no, the family has not been allowed to adopt another dog.
“Please remember that every shelter pet has an equally tragic story as to how they landed at a municipal shelter and [each]deserves the same amount of national attention… and you can feel just as good adopting and saving one of them!”
Anita Jensen wrote in response: “You all are fantastic! Blessing in disguise for Zuzu. Now she has a chance to be cared and loved as she deserves.”
Another wrote: “The family should never ever be allowed to adopt another dog!!!! So happy for Zuzu.”
