You love your dogs because they deserve to be loved and not because of how they physically look or how entertaining they are or what breed they belong to. You love dogs of all kinds and breeds. However, there is this one particular breed which is really notorious for melting everyone’s hearts!
You don’t believe us? Just look at this innocent face. It resembles a cuddly teddy bear you would all want to throw your arms on! Who would not want to spend time with this little bundle of happiness? This breed is known as “poodle”. Even the name rhymes with a puddle of joy! Therefore, we are dedicating our time to tell you all that you need to know about this adorable breed.
Poodles are a breed with long necks, furry faces and floppy ears. They sport a long, curly coat of fur with a docked tail. You will find poodles of three different sizes including the standard, the miniature and the toy. According to a pet care center, standard poodles are approximately over 15 inches and 45 to 70 pounds, miniature poodles are 10 or 11 inches to 15 inches and 12 to 20 pounds while the toys are less than 10 inches and about 5 to 7 pounds. Miniature or toy poodles may have a longevity of as much as 17 years but the standard ones usually live till 12-14 years.
Poodles are popular for being very energetic and friendly. You may term them as “loving family dogs” who love to play and get along very well with their adopted family. Poodles are outgoing, fun-loving dogs who would not mind playing with you the whole morning or afternoon. They love to run, they love to chase and they love to play fetch. Even though their adorable appearance may speak otherwise, they may also be considered to be watchdogs as they are vigilant and alert. You can always count on them to warn you if they sense an intruder at your doorstep!
Exercise, Bathe & Training
Poodles need to exercise every single day or else they tend to become anxious and restless. They require a minimum of 40 minutes for exercising as they can easily become overweight and fall sick. In addition, as they have a rich coat of fur, they need to be groomed every day and that also means they need frequent baths.
Poodles are not only famous for its loving, playful companionship. They are also popular for being easy to train. Therefore, you do not need to and you should not go for negative reinforcements to train them into well-behaved dogs. They should instead be taught to socialize from the beginning as they love to spend time with people and make a fun companion!
