Special Permit Registration Dates As Controversial Ban On Pit Bull-Type Dogs Comes In To Force
Personally i am really worried for the poor bully breed dogs that have owners either too lazy or too broke to even be able to apply for this special permit.. Its a sad time for these beautiful dogs and i think its absolute rubbish that a certain breed can be labeled dangerous, i have had pit bulls and have been around them my whole life and they are nothing short of the sweetest most kind dogs you can imagine. Get a grip Montreal this is discrimination in my opinion you wouldn’t ban a certain race from living so why is it ok to ban a certain breed?
If you live in Montreal and have a Bully Breed Dog Please Make Sure To Apply For A Special Permit- Details Below
In just over one week Montreal’s controversial ban on all new pit bull-type dogs comes in to force.
The breed specific legislation (BSL) was passed as part of new animal control bylaw introduce last year, that also included measures that forces all dog and cat owners to register their animals and increased fines for anyone found to not follow the rules.
The deadline to start the registration process to have your pit bull-type or dangerous dog registered with the city and obtain the special permit is March 31, pushed back from the original date of December 31 of last year.
Pit bulls and dangerous dogs are defined in the regulation as:
– American pit bull terrier
– American Staffordshire terrier
– Staffordshire terrier
– Crossbreeds of the aforementioned animals
– Any dog that physically resembles those breeds
The city added several new dates for registration workshops to help owners get the process started.
To apply you will need:
– Photo ID
– Proof of residence on October 3, 2016
– Documents to prove you owned your dog on December 1, 2016
The final registration clinics will be held at the following Accès Montréal offices:
